“创意与可持续发展研究报告”为联合国教科文组织国际创意与可持续发展中心（以下简称“创意中心”）的中英文双语系列研究报告，是创意中心在北京市政府与教科文组织协议框架下，开展“创意与可持续发展指数”研究，从而形成的指数报告核心成果。系列报告拟连续出版，主报告部分结合创意中心指数研究进展成果，年度发布；报告副标题依据每年学术热点话题拟定，专题报告和案例观察围绕副标题话题，对联合国教科文组织创意城市网络（UNESCO Creative Cities Network）成员城市发展进行学术综述和案例分析。
本书是该系列报告的第一本，主要关注2019年有关创意经济和可持续发展领域的成果。这本报告不仅为上述领域提供了具有前瞻性的研究方法，并对相关概念进行深入解读，而且提供了丰富的统计数据和典型的案例。研究范围覆盖了中国、美国、欧洲、大洋洲等全球多个国家与地区，反映了文化及其创意产品对于城市发展、城市更新以及整个国家可持续发展方面的意义。
