This book introduces the basic principles and design methods regarding to steel structures, including the material properties of steel structures, the design principles and methods of different steel components (steel members in tension, compression, bending, and combined loads) and steel connections. The main contents of this book includes the development and application of steel structures in China, requirements for different properties of steel material, construction and calculations of welding and bolted connections of steel members, strength and stability problems of compression members and flexural members, as well as steel members in combined axial and bending loads. The relevant calculations in this book are conformed to the latest version of Chinese code Standard for design of steel structures (GB 50017--2017). It should be noted that the advancement in industrial technologies and some updated research findings are also included in some parts of this book.
