《综合英语教程》是为我国师范院校英语专业学生编写的英语专业基础教材，《综合英语教程》第五册采用专题研究的方式，引导学生对某一个专题开展广泛而且有一定深度的探索，目的就是要引导学生透过文化现象，了解形成这种文化的历史、哲学和社会背景。在《综合英语教程》第五册中，我们在向学生介绍西方文化的同时，还鼓励学生将其与自己的文化进行对比研究，认识东西方文化的差异，在文化和价值观的冲突中，学会和不同的文化求同存异。
