共同富裕，可以理解为全体人民共同的富裕生活，这一方面意味着是社会生产力高度发达基础上的富裕生活状态，另一方面意味着全体人民都能够共享生产力高度发达的结果，实现普遍过上富裕生活的状态。在当今中国，实现共同富裕既是社会主义的本质要求，也是中国实现的现代化的重要特征。本书为英文版，以理解中国的视角，从社会主义本质要求和现代化道路两个相互关联的点切入，分析了中华人民共和国成立以来中国走过的迈向共同富裕之路。

黄群慧，中国社会科学院经济研究所所长、研究员、博士生导师，《经济研究》主编、《经济学动态》主编，兼任中国企业管理研究会副会长、理事长“十四五”国家发展规划专家委员会委员。2009年享受国务院颁发的政府特殊津贴，主要研究领域为产业经济与企业管理。曾主持国家社科基金重大项目2项，国家社科基金一般项目、国家自然科学基金项目以及省部级重大项目多项。在《中国社会科学》《经济研究》等学术刊物公开发表论文300余篇，独立撰写、参与撰写著作30余部。
