本书为“读懂中国”丛书之一。全过程人民民主是中国式现代化的本质要求，党的二十大报告多层次对一步发展全过程人民民主指明发展路径。本书汲取最新思想成果，介绍中国全过程人民民主的生动实践，帮助国际社会更好地读懂从历史发展而来的中国全过程人民民主的鲜活形态。具体分为三大部分，包括“众人的事由众人商量”、“民主实践新样态新形式”、“最广泛、最真实、最管用的民主”，分别介绍广大人民群众通过全过程人民民主机制渠道积极参政议政，各级政府和基层自治组织积极为人民群众搭建参政议政平台，各级人大、政协、政府各部门通过全过程人民民主机制倾听群众意见。全书总体上采用案例分析这种生动灵活的形式，向国内外读者介绍中国全过程人民民主的生动实践，展现了人类政治文明新形态。

郑必坚，1932年生，四川富顺人。1952年加入中国共产党，1954年中国人民大学政治经济学系研究生毕业。历任中共中央文献研究室组长、中共中央书记处研究室室务委员、中共中央总书记胡耀邦的政治助理、国务院国际问题研究中心副总干事、中国社会科学院副院长兼马列所所长、中其中央宣传部常务副部长、中共中央党校常务副校长、中国改革开放论坛理事长。系中国共产党第十四届、第十五届中央委员。现任中共中央党校学术委员会主任、国家创新与发展战略研究会会长。
