In the complicated exercise of lilling the voids in the metropolitan puzzle and bringing the pieces together, fitting a volume into the city’s narrow, cramped niches is a delicate and difficult task for architects.

Aesthetic and functional considerations alike come into play in this complex chore. On the one hand, closure between two existing volumes is sought, linking the existing elements into a single unit that merges the new building with the two that flank it; while on the other,a subtle, distinct language must be developed for a particularly squeezed in facade.
