From Bruce Weber’s dog Skye reclining among stems of roses，Sofia Coppola’s image of the everbeflowered Elvis sh rine，Joel Grey’s gigantic interpretation of lilies of the valley，and Galen Rowell’s classic vision of spring wildflowers to Firooz Zahedi’s saintly close-up of Claire Danes in a wreath of roses，an overalled Malcolm McDowell clutching sunflowers in Tuscany,Richard Gere’s minimalistic rendition of a Tibetan monk，and Steven Meisel’s interpretive elegant spray of peonies draping Linda Evangelista’s body,the result is stunning：a visual feast that captures the infinite power and simplicity of flowers．

Naked：Flowers Exposed is an unDrecedented look at flowers that will continually delight，surprise，and mesmerize at each turn of the page．

All of the contributors in Naked have donated their art to the charity Friends in Deed, an organization dedicated to providing emotional, spiritual, and psychological support to those affected by lifethreatening illnesses. An exhibition of these works will travel across the country during the fall of 1997 before being auctioned at Sotheby’s, with the proceeds going to Friends in Deed.

WALTER HUBERT is the owner of Silver Birches, a floral design studio, and is a nationally soughtafter lecturer on the art of floristry and event design. He has also been a design consultant for advertising layouts; his clients include Ralph Lauren Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, and Bruce Weber.

Designer SAM SHAHID has created ad campaigns for Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, Gianni Versace, and Abercrombie & Fitch. He has also designed books for Bruce Weber, Ellen Von Unwerth, Herb Ritts, Kelly Klein, Bert Stern, and Ross Bleckner.
