In 1929, Clifford Wendehack, an architect who specialized in clubhouse design and the creator of the Winged Foot Clubhouse,wrote the last book on clubhouses. It chronicled the planning and design of country clubhouses in the 1920s. Almost 80 years later,Richard Diedrich--possibly a reincarnation of Wendehack in his focus on clubhouse design in the last quarter century--has written the seminal book on clubhouses. Beginning with legendary clubhouses built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the United States, Diedrich presents the remarkable evolution of clubhouse architecture into the 21st century.
