本图谱优先选用大体病理解剖图片，许多病例仍辅以显微照片，在诊断必要时(如骨病理)辅之以放射线照片。这不仅可帮助读者增强对大体解剖病变的理解，而且对最终鉴别诊断大有裨益，因为类似的大体特征可能由不同的疾病造成。

本图谱并非缩略的病理学教科书。它旨在提供“视觉辅助记忆”，并作为主要病理学或临床教科书的补充参考书使用，本图谱出版之意义即在于此。
