本教材为南方医科大学中医药学院首次编写的适合中医/中西医结合专业使用的教材，突出中医特色，纳入了中医学的主要知识点，同时也兼顾了英语语言学习的特点。

本教材包括三大部分，第一部分又包括15个单元，每个单元又包括2篇阅读与翻译、焦点知识和读书笔记；第二部分为TCM阅读，包括了中医、中西医临床的基本概念和基本内容；第三部分为TCM资料，是一个中医、中西医临床实用性很强的资料库。

本书以教育部《大学英语教学大纲》为主要依据，结合中医/中西医结合专业教学的特点，由资深的英语教育和中医药教育专家共同编写。全书分为三大部分，第一部分介绍医学英语基本知识和读、写、译的一般规律；第二、三部分分别介绍了中医/中西医临床基础理论、基本内容、特色疗法和常用中药名称、功效，以及经脉循行、穴位名称、定位与临床应用等。所选内容涵盖了高等中医药教育的常用英语，注重实用性、可读性和读、写、译能力的培养。本书可作为高等中医药教育的试用教材，亦可供中医/中西医结合专业人员学习参考。
