在普洱国家绿色经济试验示范区建设中，景东县时不我待，抢抓机遇，于2012年10月举办黑冠长臂猿国际学术研讨会，进一步推动以黑冠长臂猿保护研究为重点的生物多样性保护工作。为深入推进景东黑冠长臂猿的科学研究与保护宣传工作，景东自然保护区管理局出版了《无量山西黑冠长臂猿研究》，书中共收集了与无量山长臂猿有关的国、内外核心刊物上发表的学术论文40余篇，从分类与遗传进化、行为生态学及种群数量与保护三个方面进行了编排。出版该书一是希望以此引起社会各界更加关注和保护黑冠长臂猿，二是让世人更加关注景东的生态保护工作，三是由衷地表达对专家、学者及研究成果的崇高敬意和真挚的感谢！可以说，该论文集是学术性很强的研究专著，可为今后的黑冠长臂猿研究提供对比资料，为保护管理提供依据，并将对开展黑冠长臂猿学术交流以及宣传推介景东产生积极的影响。
