The murder of Sir Danvers Carew was.big news in the city.Sir Danvers was very well respected， so his murder made many people very angry.Alarge reward of several thousand pounds was offered to anyone who could tell the police where Hyde was， but no—one knew.Hyde had completely disappeared. 

After a while life began to return to normal for Mr Utterson.The sadness of the loss of Sir Danvers was balanced by the satisfaction of the loss of Hyde.It seemed definite now that the evil Hyde had disappeared. 

Life was also becoming better for Dr Jekyll.He went out， was busy，dined with friends， and for about two months he seemed to be happy and content. 

On 8th January， Jekyll and Utterson dined with their friend Dr Lanyon， and all seemed well again between the three， just like in the old days.Utterson was used to going round to see his friend Jekyll almost daily.So the following day he decided to return once more to visit his friend.But he did not get in to see him.Poole told Utterson at the door that the doctor was staying indoors， and would see nobody.He tyried again several times to see his friend， and was again refused.On the sixth night Mr Utterson went to see Dr Lanyon instead.
