第十八次世界美学大会2010年在北京大学召开，参加会议有来自世界八十多个国家的千余人，会议提交了千余篇论文，其中英文论文有近四百篇。《Diversities in Aesthetics--Selected Papers of The 18th Congress of International Aesthetics（英文版）》编者叶朗从其中选择了相关优秀论文，编写成这本文集。本文集多为国外美学领域专家学者所写。
