《计算机专业英语》自2003年第一版发行之后，受到读者的欢迎，至今已印刷了7次，并被教育部评为普通高等教育“十一五”国家级规划教材。为了适应计算机领域瞬息万变的知识更新的形势，更好地促进教学，《计算机专业英语》第二版对教材内容做了更新。这次更新不仅是对课文和阅读材料的内容选择上进行更新，而且吸收国外教材注重实用的理念，对语法、练习、技能训练等部分也进行了修改。同时在全书的结构编排上，也做了相应的调整。第二版中将课文增加至16课，并在书后增加了一份综合练习自测题，以帮助读者复习和自我评估。

本书在《计算机专业英语》第一版的基础之上对部分课文和阅读材料的内容做了更新。以计算机科学和网络技术为背景，精选了16篇主题针对计算机进行概括描述的英语文章。内容涉及到计算机的历史和未来、计算机操作、软件和硬件的安装与使用、病毒、黑客、网络搜索与网络安全等各个领域。本书中的语言具有较强的时代气息，内容具有较强的可读性。每一课的内容包括：课文、单词、难句分析、语法、技能训练和阅读材料。为了方便阅读，在每课课文前面都有摘要和关键词。书后附有每篇课文的参考译文和练习答案，并附有一份全书的综合练习自测题和参考答案。

本书可作为高职高专计算机专业或相关专业的英语教材，也可供自学者和计算机爱好者使用。
