张建国等编著的《杉木自然稀疏与生长模拟(英文版)》基于杉木密度试验林长期定位观测资料，系统解决了杉木林分生长模型系统中优势高生长模型、断面积生长模型以及直径结构模型等三大核心模块的构建问题，深入揭示了杉木人工林自然稀疏法则，实现了杉木最大密度线模拟技术的系统优化。全书共分4部分，围绕杉木优势高生长模拟、断面积生长模拟、直径结构模拟和杉木自然稀疏模拟等进行了论述，阐释了各部分研究的进展，创新性地提出了林分直径结构模拟新模型及其模糊分布拟合思路，提出杉木优势高、断面积生长的代数差分方程及广义代数差分方程模拟技术，首次验证分析了杉木自然稀疏法则与发生轨迹，并从数据点选取、参数估计方法角度建立了杉木最大密度线模拟技术体系。
