本书共五章，第一章对理论研究的视角进行了相关阐释，从西方哲学的本体论、认识论和价值论入手，溯源“自我”和“身体”的密切关联；第二章和第三章，将分别从黑人女性身体的族裔维度、空间维度对莫里森早、中创作期的作品中身体与自我的构建关系进行研究；笔者在书中的第二、三、四章的最后一节中指出莫里森的生存美学除了关注身体和自我的建构关系外，还聚焦了小说中的死亡哲学；第五章指出莫里森小说中的黑人女性主体的存在和发展不是一个单一的线性过程，而是呈现螺旋运动状态的永恒发展过程。

应伟伟，女，安徽理工大学教师，1999年本科毕业于安徽大学英语系，2003年硕士毕业于安徽大学英语系，2012年毕业于复旦大学外文学院，获英语语言文学博士学位。2010年1月被评为副教授。2018年10月至今担任安徽理工大学外国语学院英语系主任。安徽省比较文学学会理事。主持安徽省哲学社会科学规划一般项目一项，省级教研、科研重点及一般项目四项，英语专业省级示范教研室重点项目一项。参与国家社科基金重点项目一项，一般项目一项；参加省级教研科研重点项目三项。担任省级示范课程《美国文学》的负责人。至今发表论文十余篇，参编大学英语、英语语法、专门用途英语、研究生科技英语写作教材共四部。
