E sempre notte nelle grandi tele di canapa di Luca Pignatelli (Milano, 1962); non c'e colore o luce che scaldi o che possa distrarre dalla riflessione, sui pannelli industriali che adopera per i racconti della memoria. Le sue opere parlano di una guerra che minaccia gli affetti e la poesia del mondo moderno;tra fascinazione archeologica ed esplorazione del mito, le grandi tele vibrano di spirito espressionista e nordico e i suoi eroi, inerti e pietrificati, fissano e scrutano il mondo da un pia-neta mediterraneo stranamente gelato. L'artista apre il suo mondo filosofico verso un'espressivita incisiva. Egli cerca di restituire con la pittura il grande respiro che regge la natura, il senso del movimento incessante, che produce nuove forme e anche separazione, unione e solitudine.

On the large hemp cloths of Luca Pignatelli (Milan 1962) it is always night. There is no color or light to warm the works nor to distract the observer from reflecting on the industrial themes that are used as stories of our collective memory. His works speak of a war that threatens the sentiments and poetry of the modern world. Between archeological fascination and mytho-logical exploration, the large cloths vibrate with an expres-sionist and Nordic spirit. His inert and petrified heroes, stare and search the world from a strangely frozen Mediterranean planet. The artist opens his style up to an incisive and defin-ing expressiveness. Pignatelli tries with his painting to get back to the key elements of nature, the sense of constant movement that produces new forms as well as separation,union, and solitude.
