内容 | 编辑推荐 This survey of Klee's career documents the artist's remarkable achievement with more than 60 reproductions of his most important works and an informative text discussing his unique place in twentieth-century art. 内容推荐 One of the most admired of twentieth-century artists,Paul Klee (1879-1940) stands apart from his contemporaries.Although Klee was associated with a number of modern movements, including the expressionist Blue Rider group, which flourished in Munich in the ~early years of the century, and the modernist Bauhaus school, where he taught for a number of years, his art developed independently of the stylistic currents around him.Growing out of a youthful interest in art nouveau,Klee's early work ahnost entirely consisted of line drawings and etchings until he “discovered” color while on a trip to Tunis in 1914.From that time forward; color was to be a central and continuing preoccupation of his art.Later,Klee became interested in the psychology of perception, and many of his paintings and watercolors of the 1920s were intended to explore his theories of sensation and the reception of visual images. Like many German artists,Klee suffered from the cultural policies of the Nazis during the 1930s.Because of his Jewish origins,he was dismissed from his teaching position in 1933,and his paintings in German museums were confiscated.Later his work was savagely criticized as “schizophrenic,” and a number of examples were included in the infamous 1937 exhibition Degenerate Art.Ultimately Klee fled with his family to Switzerland, where, tragically,he was soon found to have a rare degenerative disease, which caused his death only a few years later.Despite these hardships,he continued to work prolifically almost until the end of his life. This survey of Klee's career documents the artist's remarkable achievement with more than 60 reproductions of his most important works and an informative text discussing his unique place in twentieth-century art. 目录 Paul Klee's Parallel Universe Paul Kkee/1879-1940 Plates |
