This book is about the life and work of Saul Bass, including work undertaken with his wife Elaine. When Saul died I found it hard to accept the end of his enveloping warmth and fatherly concern, of working with him and Elaine as I prepared articles each time they created a new film title sequence, or of responding to his requests for material for the book he envisaged publishing about his life and work. Sadly, no such book appeared in his lifetime, but I was delighted when Jennifer Bass asked me to be part of this project.
