《新时代主题大学英语进阶快速阅读》共分四册，本书是第二册。
本教材的编写体例，从单元架构到每个单元中四篇阅读材料的组合，都是按照进阶式快速阅读模式进行编排，先易后难，循序渐进，以帮助学生逐步提高阅读水平。结合教育部课程思政要求和课堂实际教学需求，将主题单元精选为六个，从易到难一一呈现，可操作性更强。
选材难度由易到难。每篇文章篇幅在900词左右；按照大学英语四级词汇（4794）的要求，从较高词汇、更高词汇、超纲词汇三个维度把控词汇难度；采用Flesch Reading Ease易读度标准，科学控制每篇文章的易读度。
