《郑时龄文集/中国建筑名家文库》主要收录和整理郑时龄先生论文70余篇，分为建筑理论与建筑批评、上海的城市与建筑、上海世博会建筑、建筑与城市、随笔和访谈等几个方面。其中建筑批评学理论是郑时龄先生的核心建筑思想，也是填补了国内建筑批评的空白。上海的城市与建筑系统而全面，比较全面剖析上海的城市发展。

郑时龄编著的《郑时龄文集/中国建筑名家文库》讲述了：面对当代城市化进程加快，西方建筑师不断涌入中国市场，东西方文化相互碰撞、交融的趋势，中国传统文化、中国建筑文化愈加引起建设者的重视。当前，中国建筑师在学习、应用西方先进的设计理念和建筑技术的同时，应深入学习、领悟中国本土的建设思想理念和传统建筑文化。

建筑要有地域特色，中国城市和建筑要有中国特色。中国城市的大规模开发建设曾带来对历史文化的破坏，城市建筑类似、雷同，缺少地域特色，缺少文化内涵，城市建设与城市历史文化保护等面临着诸多问题。在这种形势下，越来越多的有识之士开始呼唤民族文化、传统建筑文化的回归。
